Abstract

This paper presents a bibliometric analysis of supply chain management (SCM) research within agro-based businesses, reviewing publications from 2000 to 2024 to identify major trends, contributors, and research gaps. Using VOSviewer 1.6.20, 2,534 journal articles were evaluated, demonstrating three distinct phases: early development (2000–2008), steady growth (2009–2016), and rapid expansion (2017–2024). The rapid expansion phase is defined by an exponential increase in research addressing blockchain integration, IoT-based smart farming, carbon neutrality, and resilient supply chains, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. A co-authorship study identifies key contributors like Sachin Kumar Mangla and top institutions such as Wageningen University; however, findings reflect regional differences, with little contribution from emerging economies like India. Citation analysis suggests a drop in significant articles post-2021, indicating thematic saturation. This study underlines the need for interdisciplinary research, sustainable policies, and global collaboration to promote resilience and innovation in agro-industrial SCM, delivering actionable insights for researchers and policymakers.
